Korea-Nordic Special Cooperation Project Successfully Completed

[Jeonju=GeoVis] The Geophysics Computing Lab at Jeonbuk National University announced on the 17th that it has successfully completed the 2022 Korea-Nordic Special Cooperation Project of the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The project, conducted for approximately two years from January 1, 2022, was titled 'Development of 4D Time-Lapse Seismic Monitoring Technology Considering Seismic Anisotropy'.

During the research period, two master's researchers, Kim Seokhan and Roh Heechan, participated as research associates and conducted close international collaborative research with Professor Alexey Stovas of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Through this project, the core principles of 4D monitoring technology reflecting seismic anisotropy characteristics were developed, and this technology is evaluated to be practically applicable for long-term monitoring of underground reservoirs.

It also played an important role in establishing a research network in the field of geophysics between Korea and the Nordic countries, laying the foundation for continuous academic exchange between the two countries.

A lab official stated, "Through this cooperation project, we were able to achieve world-class research results." They added, "We will continue to contribute to the development of geophysical exploration technology through international collaborative research in the future."
