Professor Ju-Won Oh Participates in Overseas Resources Development Association Lecture

[Seoul=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced that he participated as an instructor in the 'Current Status and Prospects of Resource Development Exploration Technology' training course organized by the Overseas Resources Development Association.

This training course was held for three days from June 26th to 28th, and it was a venue for sharing the latest exploration technology trends and practical experience with domestic resource development experts.

Professor Ju-Won Oh was responsible for two afternoon sessions, delivering a total of 4 hours of lectures. In the first session, he lectured for 2 hours on 'Current Status of Geological/Geophysical Exploration Technology Development Related to COβ‚‚ Geological Storage'. This session introduced the latest exploration technologies in the CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) field, a core technology in the carbon-neutral era, and domestic and international research trends.

The second session covered 'Analysis of Geological/Geophysical Exploration Cases Related to Domestic and International Resource Development'. It consisted of practical content that connected theory and practice through various exploration cases applied in actual fields.

The Overseas Resources Development Association is a representative industry organization in Korea that supports overseas resource development projects and promotes related technological development. It annually shares the latest technological trends in resource development and operates various training programs for fostering specialized personnel.

In particular, this training course was composed of timely content, gaining great response from participants, as interest in COβ‚‚ geological storage technology, which is attracting attention along with carbon neutrality policies, is increasing.

COβ‚‚ geological storage is a technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide and safely stores it deep underground, and it is considered one of the key means of reducing greenhouse gases. Advanced geophysical exploration technology is essential for accurate reservoir characterization and long-term monitoring.

An official from the Overseas Resources Development Association stated, "Professor Ju-Won Oh's lecture, based on his rich research experience and international network, was a great help to the participants." They added, "We will continue to provide practical training that reflects the latest technological trends."

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Continuous education and technological exchange are important for improving the technological competitiveness of the domestic resource development field."
