Computational Geophysics Lab Presents Research Achievements on BECCS at the KSEECC Spring Conference
[Jeju=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh and Ph.D. student Sea-Eun Park from the Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) at Jeonbuk National University participated in the '2025 Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Energy and Climate Change (KSEECC)' held from May 21 to 23, 2025, at the Jeju Global Center of the Korea Institute of Energy Research in Jeju, to present their latest research findings.
This conference was a significant event where experts in the fields of carbon neutrality, energy, and climate gathered to share the latest research trends and engage in academic exchange. Our lab garnered considerable attention from attendees by presenting research achievements on key geophysical technologies for the commercialization of BECCS (Bio-Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage).
Ph.D. student Sea-Eun Park delivered an oral presentation on the topic "A Historical Review of Norwegian CCS Projects and Their Geophysical Considerations: A Benchmarking Approach for the Commercialization of BECCS Technology." Based on her international joint research experience with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), her presentation was highly praised for providing geophysical insights necessary for the commercialization of BECCS technology by analyzing real CCS case studies and benchmarking Norway's successful CCS project history.
Professor Ju-Won Oh shared the lab's vision and strategies for developing advanced geophysical exploration technologies to ensure the stability and efficiency of BECCS through a poster presentation titled "Advancement of Geophysical Exploration Technology for Bio-Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage."
The participation in this conference has once again demonstrated that JBCGL is conducting leading research in the field of BECCS, a next-generation carbon neutrality technology. Our lab will continue to contribute to climate change response and energy transition through sustained research and development.
