PhD Student Sea-Eun Park Wins Grand Prize in the 4th Stage BK21 Program Performance Evaluation for Graduate Students

[Jeonju=GeoVis] Sea-Eun Park, a Ph.D. student at the Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) of Jeonbuk National University, has achieved the splendid accomplishment of winning the Grand Prize in the 'Performance Evaluation for Participating Graduate Students in the First Half of 2024 for the 4th Stage Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Program'.

This performance evaluation is a system that recognizes and rewards outstanding talent by comprehensively assessing the research achievements and academic contributions of graduate students participating in the BK21 program. Sea-Eun Park was selected as the Grand Prize winner in recognition of her exceptional research accomplishments.

During her doctoral studies, Park has conducted close international joint research with world-leading research institutions such as the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in the United States, and the University of Calgary in Canada. Through these collaborations, she has made significant contributions to developing innovative geophysical monitoring technologies applicable to onshore geothermal development sites and offshore Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) sites.

In particular, her research on precise subsurface modeling and analysis using real field data has been highly praised by academic circles both at home and abroad. These achievements were highly evaluated for aligning with the goal of the 4th stage BK21 program, which is to cultivate global research talent.

Professor Ju-Won Oh, her academic advisor, stated, "Sea-Eun Park's relentless effort and passion have led to the invaluable result of winning this Grand Prize.
