2024 Digital Global Talent Nurturing Project: Recruitment of Overseas Dispatch Personnel (Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL))
[Jeonju=GeoVis] The Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) at Jeonbuk National University is recruiting graduate students and graduating undergraduate students to participate in overseas research dispatches as part of the 2024 Digital Global Talent Nurturing Project.
Number of Recruits and Research Areas (Final selection of 2 or 3 individuals)
- Qualcomm Institute, University of California, San Diego, USA: AI-based geophysical data processing technology (1 person)
- University of Calgary, Canada: Geophysical data processing and spatial information interpretation technology (1 person)
- Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, Norway: CO2 geological storage and digital twin technology (1 person)
Recruitment Period and Dispatch Period
- Recruitment Period: Rolling recruitment until October 2025 (If there are new applicants, a separate evaluation will be conducted to select the most suitable person for dispatch. Continuous competitive recruitment with new applicants. Final selection of 2 or 3 individuals will be confirmed 5 months before dispatch begins)
- Dispatch Period: March 1, 2026 ~ August 31, 2026 (approximately 6 months, subject to change due to visa preparation, etc.)
Eligibility and Support Details
- Eligibility: Undergraduate/Master's students in related majors (However, students from other majors can also apply. Students on leave of absence, graduates, students on graduation deferment, and students who have completed their coursework are not eligible to apply)
- Support Details:
- Airfare and visa preparation fee support (within 5 million won)
- Living expenses (local living expenses): Approximately 2 million won per month, varies by country
- Personnel expenses: Master's student (2.2 million won per month during dispatch), PhD student (3 million won per month during dispatch)
- Other research-related expenses (publication fees, conference and training program attendance, etc.)
Dispatch Conditions
- Admission to graduate school as a member of the Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) (Advisor: Professor Ju-Won Oh) before dispatch begins
- Completion of dispatch training program
- Maintenance of graduate student status during dispatch period
- Students who have no issues with visa issuance for each country
- Repayment of research funds if not returning after dispatch begins or if dropping out mid-term
- Publication of 1 SCIE paper within 1 year after dispatch
- Research topic to be determined after selection and tailored to the dispatch institution
