Undergraduate Student Yun-Gon Park Successfully Completes Research Dispatch at NGI, Norway, and Returns Home
[Oslo=GeoVis] Yun-Gon Park, an undergraduate student at the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), has successfully completed his research dispatch at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) and returned home.
This dispatch was conducted as part of the Honam Region CCUS Innovative Talent Nurturing Program for greenhouse gas reduction. Yun-Gon Park stayed at NGI from July 6 to August 30, 2024. In particular, this dispatch research was conducted as a follow-up to the Sleipner CSEM (Controlled-Source Electromagnetic) monitoring research (December 30, 2023 - February 25, 2024) of the same project, which was carried out last winter.
In this research, Yun-Gon Park intensively conducted research on finite element discretization for Marine CSEM technology, achieving significant results in identifying the correlation between skin-depth and the accuracy of the finite element method. Based on the results obtained from this dispatch research, Yun-Gon Park plans to continue his research with the goal of publishing a paper in the future.
Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Yun-Gon Park's dispatch was an important experience for students to strengthen their international research capabilities and contribute to the development of core technologies in the CCUS field." He added, "We will continue to actively support students to grow into world-class researchers."
