Geophysics Computing Lab Signs MOU with NGI, Norway

[Oslo=GeoVis] The Geophysics Computing Lab at Jeonbuk National University has partnered with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) to take the first step in international collaborative research for carbon neutrality technology innovation.

The lab announced that it signed an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NGI on February 20th. This agreement was made possible with the support of the 'JBNU-G International Collaborative Research Project', and the project title is "Research on the Scalability of Full Waveform Inversion Technology for a Carbon-Neutral Society."

Through this MOU, the two institutions will closely cooperate in various areas, including joint research focused on Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) technology, exchange of technical information, and exchange of research personnel. NGI is a research institution with a global reputation in geotechnical engineering and geosciences, and this collaboration is expected to elevate the lab's technological capabilities to the next level.

Professor Ju-Won Oh expressed his ambition, stating, "The cooperation with NGI is an important milestone for our lab to establish itself as a core partner in the global research network." He added, "Through this international collaborative research, we will contribute to the development of key carbon neutrality technologies such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and create innovative research achievements that can compete on the world stage."
