Professor Ju-Won Oh Visits NGI, Norway, to Strengthen International Collaborative Research

[Oslo=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Geophysics Computing Lab at Jeonbuk National University officially visited Norway from February 18th to 22nd to strengthen international collaborative research with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI).

This visit was promoted as part of the 'JBNU-G International Collaborative Research Project' and focused on discussing follow-up measures to the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and establishing concrete collaborative research plans. Professor Oh met with key NGI researchers to review the progress of the "Research on the Scalability of Full Waveform Inversion Technology for a Carbon-Neutral Society" project and had in-depth discussions on future research directions.

In particular, he also met with PhD candidate Sea-Eun Park and undergraduate student Yun-Gon Park, who are currently dispatched to NGI, to discuss their collaborative research results and encourage their adaptation to the local environment. The dispatched researchers were motivated by this visit and were able to further expand their experience in a global research environment.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Direct exchange with NGI is not just a collaboration, but a very significant opportunity for our lab's students to grow into world-class researchers." He added, "We will continue to contribute to solving challenging problems in geophysics by developing together through continuous personnel exchange and collaborative research."
