Master's Student Jin-Young Park Departs for Long-Term Dispatch to KAUST, Saudi Arabia

[Jeonju=GeoVis] Jin-Young Park, a master's student researcher at the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), announced on the 19th that he has departed for a long-term dispatch to KAUST in Saudi Arabia.

As part of the Energy Human Resources Development Project - Energy New Industry Global project of the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, Jin-Young Park will conduct research activities at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for approximately six months, from September 26, 2023, to March 23, 2024.

During his dispatch, Jin-Young Park will conduct research on AI-based seismic exploration data processing and imaging in collaboration with Professor Tariq Alkhalifah of KAUST.

The KAUST SWAG (Seismic Wave Analysis Group) research team possesses world-class deep learning-based seismic imaging technology, and this dispatch is expected to contribute significantly to the self-reliance of domestic seismic imaging technology.

This dispatch is a core program of the 'Global Innovative Talent Nurturing for Geophysical Exploration and Monitoring' project (Principal Investigator: Professor Ju-Won Oh), aiming to strengthen the global competitiveness of human resources in the domestic energy sector.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "I expect Jin-Young Park to learn and grow a lot in a world-class research environment." He added, "This experience will be an important asset for the development of geophysical exploration technology in Korea."
