Energy and Environmental Technology K-MOOC Online Lecture Launched
[Jeonju=GeoVis] Jeonbuk National University announced that the 'Energy and Environmental Technology' online lecture, in which Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) participated, has officially launched on the K-MOOC platform.
This lecture was registered as a K-MOOC self-participation course on July 27th and began its operation. K-MOOC (Korean Massive Open Online Course) is a Korean-style open online course platform operated by the National Institute for Lifelong Education, providing high-quality educational content free of charge to all citizens.
Professor Ju-Won Oh is responsible for Week 13 'CCS Technology' and Week 14 'Geophysical Monitoring' out of the total 15-week course. These two lectures cover specialized knowledge in the Carbon Capture, Storage, and Utilization (CCUS) field, which is a core technology in the carbon-neutral era.
Week 13's CCS technology lecture introduces the technical principles and field application cases for the entire process of carbon capture, transportation, and storage. In particular, it focuses on optimal reservoir selection and safety assessment methods considering geological characteristics.
Week 14's geophysical monitoring lecture explains various geophysical monitoring techniques such as 4D seismic monitoring, gravity monitoring, and electromagnetic monitoring to ensure the safety and efficiency of CCS projects.
This lecture was developed with the support of the Energy New Industry Innovation Sharing University. The Energy New Industry Innovation Sharing University is a consortium involving seven universities, including Jeonbuk National University, with Seoul National University as the lead institution, aiming to develop innovative curricula in the energy sector.
In particular, this lecture is expected to provide practical help not only to university students but also to professionals in the energy sector by balancing theory and practice. Professor Ju-Won Oh's rich field experience and international collaborative research cases are reflected in the lecture content, earning high educational value.
A K-MOOC official stated, "It is very meaningful that specialized lectures on CCS technology and monitoring are provided at a time when carbon neutrality policies are being fully implemented." They added, "We hope that many learners will enhance their understanding of future energy technologies through this lecture."
