[Sejong=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh and Professor Youngsoo Lee's research team from the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced on the 3rd that they visited the Korea CCUS Promotion Agency and conducted a technical seminar.

This seminar was held on November 8, 2022, for progress review and technical consultation on CCS project case studies. The Korea CCUS Promotion Agency is located in Sejong Special Self-Governing City and is an organization involving companies, private experts, and the government to support the development and commercialization of CCUS technology.

During the seminar, Professor Youngsoo Lee presented on 'Current Status of Carbon Capture and Storage by Country: Technology and Geological Characteristics', and Professor Ju-Won Oh presented on 'CCS and Seismic Exploration: What are Korea's Technological Level and Development Direction?'.

The Geophysics Computing Lab is contributing to the development of CCS monitoring technology by carrying out the 'Honam Region CCUS Innovative Talent Nurturing Program for Greenhouse Gas Reduction' project with the Korea CCUS Promotion Agency.

This technical seminar was an important occasion to share the current status of domestic CCUS technology and explore future development directions. In particular, it served as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among academia, industry, and government agencies.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Through this seminar, we were able to reconfirm the importance of CCUS technology and have in-depth discussions with domestic and international experts." He added, "We will continue to conduct research that contributes to the development of CCUS technology."
