Professor Ju-Won Oh Co-translates and Publishes 'Basic Geophysics' Textbook

[Jeonju=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced on the 28th that the textbook 'Basic Geophysics', which he co-translated, has been published.

Published by Sigma Press in September 2022, this textbook consists of 12 chapters systematically covering the core content of geophysics at the undergraduate level. While maintaining the same themes and scope as the previous edition, the content has been completely reorganized to make it easier to understand.

The textbook broadly covers everything from the basic theories of geophysics to practical applications, and includes abundant specific examples and practice problems to aid students' understanding. In particular, it adopts a method of intuitively explaining complex mathematical concepts and connecting them to actual geophysical phenomena.

This revised edition reflects the latest research trends in geophysics and introduces modern observation techniques and data processing methods, enhancing its educational value.

Professor Ju-Won Oh participated in the translation work based on his expertise in geophysical exploration and data processing, contributing to the qualitative improvement of geophysics education in Korea.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "It is meaningful to be able to provide a foundation for systematic learning for future generations through the translation of a high-quality geophysics textbook." He added, "I will continue to strive for the development of geophysics education in the future."
