Master's Student Hyeonggeun Ji Publishes Paper in Journal of Marine Science and Engineering
[Jeonju=GeoVis] Hyeonggeun Ji, a master's student researcher at the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), announced on the 28th that he has published a research paper in the international journal Journal of Marine Science and Engineering.
The paper, published in the December 2022 issue, is titled '4D seismic monitoring with diffraction-angle-filtering for carbon capture and storage'.
This research focuses on 4D seismic monitoring techniques using diffraction-angle filtering in CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) projects. It proposes an innovative monitoring technology that can precisely track changes in underground reservoirs over time due to COβ injection.
The diffraction-angle filtering technique overcomes the limitations of existing 4D seismic monitoring and has the advantage of effectively suppressing noise while detecting subtle reservoir changes.
Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international journal in the field of marine science and engineering published by MDPI, covering various research on geophysical studies in marine environments and seabed resource development technologies.
Hyeonggeun Ji stated, "I am very pleased that my research on monitoring techniques for improving the safety and efficiency of CCS technology has been internationally recognized." He added, "I will continue to conduct research that contributes to achieving carbon neutrality."
