Student Kim Yonghwan Wins Excellence Award in Overseas Resources Development Contest

[Seoul=GeoVis] A team including Kim Yonghwan, an undergraduate student from the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), announced that they won an Excellence Award in the 'Understanding Overseas Resources Development Contest' held at the 2021 Overseas Resources Development Symposium.

The awards ceremony was held on December 9th at the 2021 Overseas Resources Development Symposium at Dragon City, Yongsan, Seoul. This contest was planned to inform the general public about the importance and current status of overseas resources development and to increase the interest of young generations in the field of resources development.

The award-winning team, consisting of five members including Kim Yonghwan, produced an interview-style video content under the guidance of Professor Ju-Won Oh. The video featured Team Leader Bang Seon-taek from SK Earthon, Professor Kim Young-doo from Jeonbuk National University, and Team Leader Nam Seung-cheol from Korea National Oil Corporation, who presented expert perspectives on the reality and prospects of overseas resources development.

In particular, this work was highly praised for its interview format, which made the complex and challenging field of overseas resources development easily understandable to the general public. It covered both the vivid experiences of industry professionals and a balanced outlook on the future of the resource development industry.

The Overseas Resources Development Symposium is a representative academic event in the domestic resource development field, serving as an important platform for sharing government policy directions and industry trends. This contest is considered a meaningful attempt by academia and industry to cooperate in improving public awareness and fostering talent in the resource development field.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "It was an opportunity for students to deeply understand the practical aspects of resource development through expert interviews."
